Word Count
Word Count can create a word list or an n-gram list.
Type of Analysis
You can select Word Count or 2-5 grams.
Min Freq.
You can set a minimum frequency to be listed on the table. You can use stepper to change the number or you can type the number. If your corpus is large or your search returns too many hits, hiding low frequency clusters might help your analysis, esp. if you export your result. Also when you create n-gram list, setting the minimum at least to 2 is recommended.
Sort
You can sort the word/n-gram list in alphabetical/frequency order. If you calculated statistics, you can sort the list in the order of statistics.
Additional Feature
Search in Concord
You can search a selected word/n-gram in Concord. Left click the one you want to search and then right click -> Search in Concord. If you have search results in the Concord table, CasualConc asks you if you want to go ahead or not.
Move table contents to another table
You can move the search result on one table to the other by Menu -> Misc -> Move List → (left to right) or Move List ← (right to left).
Statistics (experimental)
You can calculate keyness with Log-likelihood or Chi-square. First, run Word Count on the right table or open a saved word list of the reference corpups. If you open a file, move it to the list to the right table. Run Word List again with the corpus you want to compare. Then, go to Menu -> Stats -> Calculate Keyword Stats.
Save Result
You can save the search result as CasualConc document (SQLite file) for later use by Menu -> File -> Save Table (left table) or Save Right Table (right table).
Export Result
You can also export the search result as CSV (comma separated values) file, which Excel can open by Menu -> File -> Export Table (left table) or Export Right Table (right table) or clicking Export icon (for exporting left table).
Open Saved Data
You can open a saved CasualConc Word Cluster document by Menu -> File -> Open Saved Data. Saved data will be imported to the left table. If you want to open another file, you need to move the first import to the right table.
